How to still wear your new years outfit after new years

We’ve all been there. You spent way too much on your New Years look and you are thinking how or when am I ever going to wear any of this again? Don’t stress, today we are going to talk about pulling “fancier” pieces more casual.

My New Years look was made up of a black pencil skirt, gold sequin tank top, and a pair of heels. While I can get lots of use out of great staple pieces like the skirt and heels, the tank top can seem to be a little harder. However, I dressed it down and versatile by layering it under a duster cardigan and pairing it with a pair of jeans instead, and let me tell you, I am in love.

Sequin or velvet pieces that are used as a statement or festive piece for holiday parties can be reused. They look great with blue, grey, and black denim. Remember, to let items speak for themselves. I kept the accessories very minimal when dressing down the sequin tank because there was already enough going on and I didn’t want to overwhelm the tank top and take away from it.

Sometimes less is more. Men, don’t forget to pull those dress shirts and suit jackets casual by pairing them with jeans. That black blazer you may have been wearing would look great with a dark pair of denim, white tee or dress shirt layered underneath, and brown belt and shoes.

I am all in when it comes to versatility. Your closet should be something you can mix and match without much thought or effort. If you feel like you are too dressy, you probably are, but its better to go somewhere overdressed than underdressed! I hope everyone had a great New Year and I can’t thank you enough for keeping up with me on the day to day biz!

XO
